There are some specific facts and needs about this breed, just as any other, that you need to consider before you decide upon bringing a Shih-Tzu home with you.

Teacup or Micro:

•  Sugar Drops: Micro and teacup Shih-tzus can get sugar drops EASILY, at which time you will need to address the severity of the situation and decide if you can deal with it by giving nutrical or if it needs to go to the vet.
• Easy bone breaks: Even a drop from two feet can break bones

• Need to be brushed bi-daily to avoid tangles and mats in hair
• Need to be bathed regularly to keep hair smooth
• Need to have ear hair pulled out monthly to avoid ear infections.
• Shih-Tzus are known to have a small bladder, which can delay FULL potty training to 1-2 years old.
