Chinese Crested Breed Information

Is This Pet Right for you?:

There are some specific facts and needs about this breed, just as any other, that you need to consider before you decide upon bringing a chinese crested home with you.

POWDER PUFF:

Needs to be combed/brushed every other day to avoid tangles and mats in hair.
Needs to be groomed/shaved once a month.
Needs to have ear hair pulled once a month.

HAIRLESS & HAIRY HAIRLESS:

Same as powder puff, will be to be combed/brushed on hairy areas to avoid tangles, but can go a week before needing to be brushed.
Needs to have ear hair pulled once a month.
Needs to have sunscreen on hot days
Needs to have lotion applied to skin
Can have allergies to certain foods, so needs to have special foods (such as higher end purina, Royal canin, or solid gold)

More susceptible to allergies so some extra vet care may be needed

Chinese cresteds CRAVE human attention. They are generally happy, bouncy, loving dogs. If you are getting it as a family dog, be sure that your kid(s) will want to play with this dog for atleast an hour throughout the day, or that another family member will. If you cannot play, then atleast be sure you can take your crested for 4-5 15 minute walks throughout the day to prevent behavoiral problems. This breed needs human attention!
